The police statement explains that Pig Latin moves the first consonantal sound of a word to its end and then adding "ay", turning "shanks" into "ankshays" and "bats" into "atbays."

This has caused some discussion here. Quite a few people thought that pig Latin was a code confined to elite schoolboys - it turns out that it is the patois of the street, commonly used in prisons ans remand centres. Whooda thunk it?
