Well damn. He was one of my favorite children's authors too. I loved the Chronicles of Prydain so much I think it is the only series of books I read more than once. I made sure my oldest daughter read him too. A loss indeed.

I too love the Taran books and have read them many times... and have fond memories of reading Time Cat when I was a lad.

Aww, #$%!. I remember thinking a few months ago that he was still alive and I should write him a letter to say hi and tell him how much I loved his books.

Those are impulses we should act on, whether it's someone we know or not.
