I printed out two posters and tried out google Scholar on my home computer, before reading the fine print. It's for use IN LIBRARIES. That means that an individual user might get very frustrated by all the articles you can't read because you're not subscribed to JSTOR or PRoQuest or whatever.
Because I'm a grad student, I can log in from home to my college library search function and do extensive article search that way. All the passwords etc. have been taken care of once I use my college ID log-in. This is much more convenient than wrestling with Google Scholar.
But I'm sure they have a plan for making this work smoothly inside libraries.
