this is a huge business issue right now: laptops have become critical business tools for people who work remotely or do significant business travel. the financial institution i work for now mandates data encryption software on all laptops: i am puzzled why *all* financial and government organizations haven't done the same.
what i see as a bigger risk, tho, are thumb drives: i frequently see high-level people copying important files onto thumb drives and taking them home. not only are the little devices much easier to lose or misplace, but the drives aren't even password protected.
