21.8 million gaping holes have been left in countless lives, all due to one disease.

Since the AIDS epidemic began, 17.5 million adults (9 million of them women) and 4.3 million children have died of the disease. 13.2 million children have lost their mother or both of their parents to AIDS before they turned 15. (UN AIDS Report, page 3)

Today 34 million people are infected with HIV/AIDS.

AIDS is preventable.
